Marriages may be made in heaven but the heavenly affair has to be celebrated on earth and that too with grandeur. As the rich & famous swell in the wake of a booming Indian economy, the Indian wedding market today is slated at over a whopping 850 billion, growing exponentially by at least 25 percent annually, making wedding planners really sought after.

One such wedding planner is Sachin Bagaria, founder of the Mumbai-based wedding planner The Wedding Soul. TWS is surely soaring high. An avid traveler & photographer by hobby, Sachin along with his wife Aanchal firmly believes in personalizing every wedding like their own.

Q2.Tell us the types of categories for a theme wedding.

A theme makes a wedding more personal more co-ordinated and definitely more beautiful. It can be categorized as

  1. Colour Based Theme
  2. Flower based Theme
  3. Motif Based Theme
  4. Culture Based Theme and many more

It is not necessary to have a very high budget to do a theme wedding. At TWS, we specialize in creating cost effective but creative themes for their clientele.

Q3.Tell us about some of the trending themes these days.

Hong Kong Theme

From eccentric themes like ‘Hongkong night’ and ‘Pop Art themes’ to nostalgia-filled affairs like  ‘Awards Night Theme’ and personalized themes based on religious beliefs we’ve covered a ton of creatively-themed weddings over the years for our clients at TWS. Here, check out some of our favourites wedding themes that are perfect for Indian weddings. Theme Weddings have been a trend for almost a decade now. While some couples want something traditional and yet unconventional, others want something unusual, exceptional and avant-garde. In my opinion, every great wedding is centered around a theme.  Be it something close to your heart or based on a color or a story or a concept.

  • Traditional Themes based on Religion
  • Contemporary Theme

  • Rajasthani Rajwada Theme
  • Exotic Location based Theme

Love Hawaii? Have a Hawaiin pool party as your welcome party. Take care of every last detail from drinks, garlands, neon props and a funky photobooth. Forts and Palaces with European flavour can also be created if you want a Venice Theme. One of the trendiest themes right now is a Moroccan theme that is based on Middle Eastern influences like hookas and mosaic lanterns.

  • Awards Night Theme
  • Floral Theme
  • Vintage Theme

Birdcages, crystals, chandeliers and candles add mystique to the vintage theme. Add rustic elements like wooden boxes and wooden furniture and you’re good to go.

Q4.Name some types of venues which are best suited according to the themes you provide.

Venue plays a major role in deciding a theme. There are certain themes which are made for the venue only. For example Shiv Vilas which is perfect for a Royal Rajasthani or Rajwada theme. Getting married in this old-world style beautiful wedding venue and the result is magical. One can have their ceremony in any of the 4 huge manicured lawns that can accommodate more than 3000 guests. They also have a Presidential Ballroom for dinner in the form of a Sheesh Mahal. Imagine your wedding day set at one of the most romantic, sophisticated & memorable settings in Rajasthan.

Similarly Park Hyatt Goa is a perfect destination for a contemporary themes or exotic themes. With exclusive venues like Boathouse, Seaside Lawns, the forest, it gives altogether a different meaning to wedding ceremonies.

Q5.Tell us the approximate range of cost of the themes which you have explained before.

Slide6

The cost of these themes highly depends on the level of elements, props & customization work to be done in the décor. If a client wants to do say a Moroccan Theme and wants to spend just 1 Lakh for Sangeet setup, so we will create the ambiance with limited elements like drapes, Arabian lanterns, hookahs whereas the same theme if done with all elements & props with customization can go up above 2-4 Lakhs.

Q6.Do you provide props for the themes? If you do, then tell us some examples with respect to the themes.

These days’ props are playing a major role in any wedding décor.  We try to incorporate various props like Candles, cages, glasses, bottles, etc. in different functions. For example as I mentioned above in Moroccan Theme we use props like Arabian Lanterns, hookahs, glass candles, gazebos, Arabian styled crockery, etc.

For a Hawaiian party the props are honey comb palm trees, multi-colored Hawaiian skirts, Hawaiian lanterns, Hawaiian beach necklaces, surf board, Pineapple cocktail foil balloons, hibiscus flowers, etc.

Q7.Describe the most interesting event you have planned till date.

A cocktail wedding; celebrating three cultures- Tamilian, Punjabi & Maharashtrian. Bride’s mother was a Punjabi, father Tamilian & the groom was Maharashtrian. The whole wedding had functions from all three cultures. We had mehandi function Punjabi style, Sangeet was followed by mata ke chowki, wedding happened in the temple. The next day they got married again by Maharashtrian style.

Q8.Describe a time when you have difficulty with planning an event.

The biggest challenge a wedding planner faces in planning any wedding is last minute changes. While the functions are going on there are many relatives around who gives their inputs and try to change the entire look & feel of the décor. Some small changes we can incorporate but we have stay firm many a times on major changes, as it becomes very difficult to do so at the last moment.
